TS High Court grants anticipatory bail to man accused of rape and fraud
HYDERABAD: Justice C. Sumalatha of the Telangana High Court on Thursday granted anticipatory bail in a case pertaining to cheating, rape and fraud. The judge was dealing with a writ plea filed by Paldewar Gopi, a 30-year resident of Kranthi Nagar, Adilabad.
The petitioner was arrayed as an accused in the said crime on February 2. The petitioner and the complainant were well acquainted with each other and physically active with one another.
A few months later when she got to know that she was pregnant, she asked the accused to marry her. Upon refusal, a case was booked against him. He tried to procure anticipatory bail in the lower court, which was denied. It was stressed by the petitioner’s counsel that consensual sex did not amount to rape.
The prosecution informed the court that the statement of the victim was recorded and four witnesses were examined. The judge granted bail to the petitioner with a cost of Rs 50,000 towards the bail bond.
