Tollywood director held for forgery

Padmarao forged Ramarao's signature and changed the movie's name to Vadu Vidu Kalpana and sold rights on a profit sharing basis.

Hyderabad: A Tollywood film director has been arrested for allegedly forging a signature during a movie deal. Mohanty Padmarao alias PK, 40, allegedly forged the signature of a movie producer and sold the movie rights to another person after changing the movie's name. He was arrested by Punjagutta police on Tuesday.

A resident of Krishnanagar area, Padmarao was associated with the film industry since 20 years. A year ago, he and producer Jana Ramarao, started a movie titled Ammayilu Take Care. The movie was almost completed and post production works were in progress.  Meanwhile, Padmarao sold the movie’s rights to one Pradeep Chaudhury, a resident of Film Nagar.

“Padmarao forged Ramarao’s signature and changed the movie's name to Vadu Vidu Kalpana and sold rights on a profit sharing basis,” Punjagutta Inspector Mohan said.

Based on a complaint from Ramarao, cases of cheating and forgery have been registered. Police arrested Padmarao and sent him to judicial remand, while Pradeep Chaudhury is absconding.
