Hyderabad: A 45-year-old city cardiologist was stabbed to death on Wednesday by his brother in law inside his clinic at Vijayanagar Colony, Humayunnagar. Dr. Syed Merajuddin was stabbed multiple times by suspect Mohammed Aziz. It’s believed that Aziz was angry about the doctor marrying another woman without his wife’s consent. It is also claimed that Merajuddin had been harassing the suspect’s sister for months.

The murder took place on Tuesday night when the doctor was on duty in his private clinic. “He (Merajuddin) had married another woman two days back without the consent of his wife, who is the suspect’s sister. An angry Aziz turned up at the clinic and we believe there was an argument which escalated into a fight. Aziz picked up a knife from the clinic and stabbed the doctor multiple times,” Asifnagar ACP, Gouse Moinuddin, said.

He added that the doctor had been married three times in the past. The doctor’s staff fled the clinic once the attack started. One of the attenders who is also a witness to the crime has now turned off his phone and remains missing. Police said the doctor suffered serious injuries and lost a lot of blood. They added that Merajuddin was alive for a while after and say he tried to call for help. Hours after the murder, suspect Aziz turned up at a police station and surrendered. Cops  booked a murder case against him under IPC section 302. He will be produced before a court on Thursday.
