Visakhapatnam: Break in at Grameena Vikas Bank
Documents set on fire; electrical devices damaged.
Visakhapatnam: Some unidentified robbers made a futile attempt to break into the safe of Andhra Pradesh Grameena Vikas Bank in Vizianagaram town in the early hours of Wednesday. Upset after their attempt proved futile, the miscreants reportedly set some documents on fire and damaged the electronic and ele-ctrical devices in the bank. However, the police suspect that the electrical short circuit might have been the reason for the fire-mishap in the bank.
The unidentified persons gained entry into the bank by breaking the locks of the shutters and cut the safe of the bank. Bank personnel, who opened the doors in the morning, discovered the break-in and informed the police. Based on the complaint from the bank aut-horities, the Vizianagaram Town Police, led by Inspector Shoban Babu, visited the bank and gathered some clues. The police said the culprits also damaged the CCTV cameras in the bank and also stole the CCTV footage storage device. Police has registered a case and is investigating.
