Udhamsingh Nagar: A paediatrician at a government hospital in Jaspur was shot dead by a man after the doctor allegedly refused to treat his ailing son, who died later, police said on Friday.
Doctor SK Singh was killed by Manik Rathee, who is also a history sheeter, said SSP Anant Shankar Takwale. Rathee has half-a-dozen cases registered against him. His
one-and-a-half-year-old son suffering from diarrhoea was being treated by Dr Singh. On April 18 night, Rathee went to the doctor's house after his son's condition became worse, the SSP said.
The doctor refused to treat his son after which Rathee approached many doctors but eventually the toddler succumbed on April 19.
Enraged by his son's death, Rathee along with his brother-in-law Shivam Tyagi killed the doctor at government hospital on April 20, police said.
The duo were nabbed by police, said Takwale, adding a country made pistol and an Apache motorcycle used in the crime have also been recovered.
