Kozhikode: Man booked for cheating women
The police said the man who is at large had cheated many women, but they were not complaining because of his threats.
KOZHIKODE: Kakkur police in the district has registered a case against a 45-year-old man for cheating women through fake accounts on Facebook for more than half a decade. Identified as Afsal Kizhedath, a native of Kakkur, Chelannur, he recently forced a woman from Italy, on whose complaint the police acted, to pay Rs 1 lakh and later demanded more. A preliminary investigation showed he had 18 fake FB accounts that he used to extract money from wealthy women emotionally blackmailing them. “I am a divorcee working in Italy for 16 years and was looking for a partner from Kerala. I happened to meet this person on Facebook,” she told this newspaper.
“He started talking about bad things about his family life during the online chat. At some point, he asked for money, for which, out of compulsion, I made an online transfer of Rs1 lakh. Later he demanded more and started blackmailing me with my morphed images. Soon I understood that like me he has been cheating women for last many years with the support of his family.” The police said the man who is at large had cheated many women, but they were not complaining because of his threats. Giving fake promises of marriage, he had also been taking money from unsuspecting victims.
