Police registered cases against five hookah centres and pubs.
Hyderabad: Police raided hookah centres and pubs in Banjara Hills and Jubilee Hills which were operating beyond permitted timings. Police registered cases against five hookah centres and pubs.
The police also conducted a drive against bike racing and seized 50 bikes.
Police said that despite repeated warnings to close establishments at stipulated times many pubs and hookah centres were violating rules.
The police registered cases against Vapour Cappicho, Abbott, 36 Driver, and Testa Rosa parlours. All these centres were operating even after 1 am. Police found many pubs were open and music was being played till 2 am. Cases under the City Police Act were registered against Club Trinity, Tikky Shake, Vertigo and Carzins.
Police conducted an operation against bike racers. Around 50 bikes were seized and parents were summoned. “The youths and their parents were warned of action if they are caught a second time,” inspector K. Srinivas said. They were let off after counselling.
43 bikes seized, 9 held in raid
The Madhapur police arrested nine suspects and seized around 43 bikes without documents during a cordon and search on Sunday morning. Around 200 personnel participated in the operation. Madhapur DCP Karthikeya said the operation in Siddiquenagar was intended to control criminal gangs and keep tabs on the movements of people from other states.
Around 200 personnel including inspectors, SIs, constables, SOT teams, special police, CCS and armed police participated in the operation. Mr Karthikeya said there was information that some criminals were staying in Siddiquenagar. Many NBWs were also pending in the area.
“Many people from other states do not have any government ID cards. They have only ID cards issued by employers. We told them to get government issued ID cards,” Mr Karthikeya said, adding that the operation was conducted in the area due to the movement of Rajasthan and Bihar based gangs involved in ATM thefts and burglaries.
During the operation 10 suspects including a Bihari carrying two ID cards with different names and five Rajasthanis without any ID proof were apprehended. Police also seized a car and nine autorickshaws from the area without documents.
