Hyderabad: Caretaker beats up octogenarian

Hyderabad: A caretaker employed to look after a retired octogenarian railway employee was arrested by the Malkajgiri police for assaulting and injuring the old man.
On May 16, the Malkajgiri police received a complaint from Uttamnagar resident M. Nagaraju, who had hired one A. Rajesh, 47, of Achampet mandal to look after his father Laxmanna, 80.
Rajesh had been working as the caretaker and cook since January. Mr Nagaraju said that on May 16 he was on the ground floor when he heard his father screaming in pain. He rushed to the spot to see Rajesh beating his father with a stick and footwear. The elderly man received injuries to his eyes, ears and elsewhere. Rajesh ran away from the house.
Based on the complaint, the police registered a case and apprehended the accused person on Wednesday.
