Realtor Chandru Kumar home burgled in Ponneri
Realtor Chandru Kumar and his family members had gone to Ooty.
Chennai: At least 25 sovereigns of gold jewellery and Rs 3 lakhs in cash were burgled from the locked house of a realtor at Ponneri, Thiruvallur. The burglary came to light after the family returned home on Wednesday morning. Realtor Chandru Kumar and his family members had gone to Ooty a few days ago. Police said that the robbers gained entry into the house by breaking the main door. According to sources, when they returned home on Wednesday morning, they found the door broken open, the bureau forced open and the contents strewn about. At least 25 sovereigns of gold jewellery and Rs 3 lakh in cash were missing. Chandru Kumar lodged a complaint at the Ponneri police station.
Police have registered a case and are checking footage from CCTV cameras in the locality.
They suspect that the burglar is from the locality and might have noticed that the house was locked for the last few days and planned the heist. Meanwhile, forensic department officials lifted fingerprints and a sniffer dog was brought to the scene.
