Burglar involved in 80 break-ins nabbed in Hyderabad

 Hyderabad: Nallamothu alias Nallamothula Suresh alias Yerrodu, a thief involved in 80 burglaries was arrested by sleuths from Central Crime Station (CCS), LB Nagar and Hayathnagar police on Monday. They recovered 26.4 tolas of gold and a four-wheeler, all valued at Rs 22,40,000 from his possession. He was moving suspiciously at Kuntloor crossroads on Monday afternoon when he was caught.

During interrogation, he confessed to his crime, Rachakonda police commissioner D.S. Chauhan said in a release. Nallamothu, a native of Tiruvuru Mandal, Krishna district, committed 10 offences in the past three months, four house burglaries in Hayathnagar, one in Saroornagar, Meerpet, Dundigal and three in Kurnool district, Chauhan said. Police found he was a habitual offender who used to work as a labourer, but took to crime at the age of 13. He was first arrested and sent to a juvenile home, Chauhan said.

He got acquainted with a property offender Uma Maheshwar Rao when he was in jail in 2009. After their release that year, the duo started committing property offences in Hyderabad, Rachakonda and Cyberabad police commissionerates. He was apprehended by LB Nagar police in a night house burglary case in the same year and jailed. After he was released, he went to Vijayawada where he was arrested by CCS Vijayawada police for property offences.

In  2022, Nallamothu was again arrested by Kavali police in property offences and sent to judicial remand. After release, he resumed committing offences, the commissioner said.

Nallamothu used to come to the city and stay at Gymkhana grounds in Secunderabad or ORR outskirts for about 15 days. During the day, he travelled by bus or autorickshaw and do a recce of colonies on foot and zero in on houses that were locked. He used to break open the doors with a rod.

After the offence, he used to immediately go to his native place by bus. Police seized 264 grams of gold ornaments, a Duster car bearing number -TS07HL5217 and three mobile phones from him.

The arrest was made under the direct supervision of Rachakonda police commissioner Chauhan and B. Sai Sri, DCP, LB Nagar, P. Madhukar Swamy, DCP crimes, and other senior police officers.
