Constable booked for assaulting cop wife in Telangana

 Hyderabad: Banjara Hills police on Monday registered a case against a police constable for mentally and physically harassing his wife, who too is a police constable with the city woman police station (WPS).

M. Sirisha Mohan lodged a complaint against her husband M. Mohan stating that he, in an inebriated condition, abused her physically and demanded additional dowry, police said. “We tried to counsel the couple but Sirisha maintained that she does not want to live with Mohan due to his aggressive attitude,” a police officer said. Mohan is posted as a constable with the Banjara Hills police station.

According to Banjara Hills police station sub-inspector P. Balaraju, Sirisha, in her written complaint, stated that she was staying separately along with her sister but for past few days Mohan used to come to her sister’s house in Filmnagar frequently in an inebriated condition late at night forcing her to give additional dowry and physically assaulting her and her sister and creating a nuisance in the locality.

“I am enraged over my husband’s attitude and told him that I would lodge a complaint against him if he continues to harass me and my sister. Following a heated argument, he badly beat me up and my sister and warned us stating that he is a policeman close to senior officials and no one will believe her even if she lodges a complaint against him”, Sirisha said.

Sirisha and Mohan fell in love, got married and were living along with their son in a rented house in Filmnagar.   

After a thorough investigation, the police registered cases of dowry harassment, trespassing, public nuisance Act and causing internal injuries under Sections 498 (a) 70 (a) and 323 of the IPC against Mohan and produced him before the court.

This is the second time Sirisha has lodged a complaint against her husband. Earlier, she had lodged a complaint with the Market police station, police sources disclosed.
