Fake notes seized from Yuva Morcha leader
Mathilakam police said that he was using fake notes in the banks and at the petrol pump.
Thrissur: Counterfeit currencies worth Rs 1.5 lakh were recovered by Mathilakam police from the house of Erassery Rajiv, Yuva Morcha leader and the OBC Morcha Kaipamangalam segment secretary, on Thursday morning. The cops who raided the house of the youth leader on the basis of inputs from a bank in the region also found several accessories like laptops, printers, ink and bond paper, used for printing fake currencies, from a room in his house at S N Puram.
Mathilakam police said that he was using fake notes in the banks and at the petrol pump. Based on the information from the bank officials, he was under surveillance by the cops. Police who are yet to confirm the custody or arrest of the accused said that they had recovered 60 notes of 2,000-rupee denomination, 10 notes each of 500 and 50 denominations and 12 notes of 20-rupee denomination. The notes were printed in a specially set-up room on the first floor of his house. Erassery Rakesh, elder brother of Rajiv, was also arrested by cops in connection with the incident from SN Puram. Cops said he was also involved in the crime.
