Hyderabad: Four deer carcasses were recovered from an autorickshaw by forest department staff in Veldurthi mandal in Medak. An official said that the department received a tip-off about the autorickshaw transporting deer carcasses.
Following this, forest officials spread out on the probable routes the vehicle would take. The vehicle was spotted on the road near Settipally village, and forest officials moved to block it. The driver stopped the vehicle in the middle of the road and fled, he said.
Officials seized the autorickshaw and sent the carcasses for autopsy. A report will be available by Saturday morning, the official said. The driver was identified from the licence that was recovered from the autorickshaw.
“With the help of the RTA, we identified the owner of the autorickshaw as one Shekhar Goud, but it appears that he had sold it to someone else,” he said. Efforts are on to track the driver and the owner of the autorickshaw.
