Telangana: Two arrested for theft on trains, 60 tola gold seized

Police said the two were involved in attention diversion offences on moving trains and railway platforms.

Hyderabad: The Secunderabad railway police nabbed a two-member interstate gang involved in thefts and recovered 60 tolas of gold from them. The arrested men are Roshan, 32, and his associate Ranveer, 30, both hailing from the Hissar district of Haryana.

Police said the two were involved in attention diversion offences on moving trains and railway platforms.

Receiving a tip off, teams from Nizamabad and Secunderabad railway police conducted a joint operation and nabbed them. “They were involved in seven cases of theft by diverting the attention of passengers at railway stations and on trains,” SP (incharge) Railways, S. Rajendra Prasad said.

Police said they recovered 60 tolas of stolen gold jewellery worth '18 lakh from them. This included five cases at the Nizamabad railway police station involving 49.5 tolas, one case at Nalgonda involving 2.5 tolas and one case in Secunderabad involving eight tolas. The two were arrested and remanded.
