‘Clueless’ women queue up to buy tickets
It turned out that these women had been paid Rs 500 each by middlemen as the wage to stand in the queue
HYDERABAD: A few women were spotted in the long queue to procure the tickets for the India-Australia T20 match scheduled here for September 25 where eight persons were injured including cops and fans when a stampede-like situation emerged at the Gymkhana Grounds on Thursday.
It turned out that these women had been paid Rs 500 each by middlemen as the wage to stand in the queue and buy two tickets each, costing Rs 1,500, in order for these men to sell the tickets in black market.
The international cricketing action is happening in the city after three years. Racketeers never miss an opportunity to make money out of such special situations. Some of these women have no clue about the match details and know only that they were waiting to get cricket match tickets.
When this correspondent asked them, “The match is between whom,” they had no clue.
After the police chased them out of the queue, the women said they were sent in by someone who arranged transportation and paid them Rs 500 plus lunch to stand in the queue and get the tickets. However, in the end, they failed to get the tickets.
