Mohammed Nisham used mobile phone in police custody: Jail DIG
District police chief Sanjay Kumar Gurudin said that the allegation would be probed.
KANNUR: Nisham used mobile phone while being taken to a Bengaluru court in connection with another case on October 20. Then he was under police custody, said northern zone Jail DIG Shivadas K. Thaiparambil, who conducted a preliminary inquiry into the allegation.
“Nisham admitted to using mobile phone twice en route to Bengaluru,” the DIG told DC. He denied the reports that Nisham was having a lavish life inside the jail.
District police chief Sanjay Kumar Gurudin said that the allegation would be probed. “The allegation is that the convict used phone while being taken to the Bengaluru court with the connivance of the escorting police. DySP special branch has been asked to probe it. If the policemen are at fault, stringent action will be taken,” the SP said. Following media reports, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan had asked the Jail DGP to provide him the details of the incident.
