KANNUR: Nisham used mobile phone while being taken to a Bengaluru court in connection with  another case on October 20. Then he was under police custody, said northern zone Jail DIG Shivadas K. Thaiparambil, who conducted a preliminary inquiry into the allegation.

“Nisham admitted to using mobile phone twice en route to Bengaluru,” the DIG told DC. He denied the reports that Nisham was having a lavish life inside the jail.

DySP special branch has been asked to probe it. If the policemen are at fault, stringent action will  be taken,” the SP said.  Following media reports, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan had asked  the Jail DGP to provide him the details of the incident.
