BENGALURU: In a suspected case of suicide, a 27-year-old techie allegedly plunged to death from the terrace of a 10-floor office building in the Cessna Business Park in Kadubeesanahalli on Wednesday. The police, however, have not ruled out the possibility of a murder and are investigating all the angles.
The deceased has been identified as Geethanjali, a senior engineer employed in Adva Optical Networking, located on the fourth floor of the building in the business park. She was on leave for two days, including Wednesday.

By around 12 noon she reached the business park, directly went to the terrace and allegedly jumped to her death at around 20 minutes later, said Nagaraj, sub-inspector, Marathahalli police station.

The police are trying to figure out what happened between the time she entered the building and when she allegedly jumped off the terrace. According to police, Geetanjali had her birthday on Tuesday and she had taken a two-day leave to celebrate it with her family in Goa.

She left for Goa on Monday night and celebrated her birthday with the family. Geetanjali returned to Bengaluru on Wednesday morning at 8.30 am, along with her aunt and went to her aunt's home on Bannerghatta road. At around 10 am she left for her office, police said.

“At 12.05 pm, she called her aunt to inform that she has reached her office. We have enquired with her colleagues but they said Geetanjali was on leave and did not come to the office. She had directly gone to the terrace perhaps with an intention to commit suicide,” Nagaraj said.

As the police informed Geetanjali’s aunt and her younger brother, who stays in Bengaluru, about the death, they were shocked. The police said they interviewed the both Geetanjali’s aunt and her brother, but they said that there was nothing which could prompt her to take the extreme step.

“We were all happy yesterday celebrating her birthday. We don’t understand what happened to her all of a sudden,” Geetanjali’s family members told the police.

The family members of the deceased, however, suspect that someone may have pushed her from the terrace and that they did not believe Geetanjali could commit suicide. So far, the reason for her alleged suicide is yet to be ascertained.
