Hyderabad: Transferred cop attempts suicide
They took the ASI to Apollo DRDO hospital, where he has been admitted for treatment of burns.
Hyderabad: An assistant sub-inspector working at Manchal police station under Rachakonda commissionerate attempted suicide by setting himself ablaze atop a water tank on Friday. The ASI took the extreme step complaining of harassment by superiors. He has been admitted to Apollo DRDO Hospital at Kanchanbagh, where he is stated to be critical.
K. Narsimha, 54, a resident of Bandlaguda, had been working with the Rachakonda police commissionerate and was transferred to Manchal police station five days ago. On Friday noon, Narsimha took a bottle of fuel and climbed on to a water tank located near the Balapur police station and set himself ablaze.Policemen rushed to douse the flames. They then took the ASI to Apollo DRDO hospital, where he has been admitted for treatment of burns.
Bal-apur inspector V. Saidulu said Ät a wedding on November 15, ASI Narsimha and his son abused the patrol constables when they asked them to turn off the music. A complaint was lodged seeking action. Subsequently, ASI Narsimha was transferred on disciplinary grounds. He might have felt humiliated at this.
Rachakonda police commissioner Mahesh Bhagwat visited the hospital and spoke to the family members of the injured ASI, and asked LB Nagar DCP Sunpreet Sing to give a report on the incident. The ASI suffered about 60 to 70 percent burns.
