The Cyberabad police has reported a fall in heinous crimes this year.
HYDERABAD: The Cyberabad police has reported a fall in heinous crimes this year. The data released by Sandeep Shandilya, Cyberabad commissioner, points out a 41 per cent decrease in chain-snatching cases, 43.3 per cent fall in murder cases and 16 per cent decline in road accidents.
However, the commissionerate saw several sensational property offences, including the Muthoot Finance heist of 41.8 kg gold, bid on Mini Muthoot at KPHB and the Mailardevpally Muthoot robbery attempt and Medchal petrol bunk dacoity.
“There is a reduction in grave crimes, including property offences, murders, chain-snatching and harassment of women. Cybercrimes and economic offences have seen a rise and it is a global phenomenon,” Mr Shandilya said.
When asked about the Muthoot case at RC Puram, he said that the police had visited several states in the country as part of the investigation. Despite the efforts, the police could recover just 10 per cent of the total 41.8 kg gold. A few members of the Peru gang had fled to other countries.
The police official explained that the traffic management has improved compared to last year. “The Outer Ring Road (ORR) stretch is an example where 12 lives were saved this year. As against 42 deaths last year, only 31 deaths occurred this year,” he said. Six mobile units patrol and nine laser guns are installed to check overspeeding.
On women safety, the police registered 78 cases and rescued 190 women, including 34 girls from Thailand. The SHE Teams registered 320 cases and rou-nded up 330 persons. The Cybderabad police is running five family counselling centres.
