Cops look to tighten security measures at residences of babus
Hyderabad: The recent incident of a revenue official intruding into the residence of senior IAS officer Smita Sabharwal, secretary to the Chief Minister, at Pleasant Valley last Thursday has sent the police scrambling to review security measures at the residences of top bureaucrats.
In the incident, it was found that the security personnel at the gate did not verify the credentials of the intruders and allowed them to enter after noting down their details, exposing a serious security lapse.
They also did not check with Smita Sabharwal if she was expecting any official to call on her at that late hour.
While a team of Telangana State Special Police (TSSP) personnel is deployed at Pleasant Valley round-the-clock, they let deputy tahsildar Anand Kumar Reddy and his friend K. Babu proceed after noting the details though it was past 11.45 pm.
“An app-based entry system for visitors is also being looked into, through which a visitor can enter the campus only after the resident allows access,” a senior police official said.
Further, the police also decided to intensify patrolling in the area.
