Fake news of CI’s suicide goes viral in Nuzvid

Kakinada: News that Nuzvid Rural circle inspector R. Ankababu had committed suicide at his home created sensation in Eluru district.

Having watched the fake news on Facebook mourning the loss, many people forwarded it with RIP (Rest In Peace) attached. Some followers on Facebook even published a garlanded photo of Ankababu, paying rich tributes.

Soon after coming across the news, Ankababu lodged a complaint with Nuzvid Town police. He got in touch with Eluru district superintendent of police Rahul Dev Sarma.

Nuzvid Rural CI posted that he is safe and sound. He said stern action will be taken against mischief mongers who have posted the news. Ankababu said the news had started from a Tanuku social media group.

Nuzvid circle inspector M.V.V.S.N. Murthy said Ankababu has lodged a complaint with Nuzvid Town police station. A case has been registered and is under investigation.
