VIJAYAWADA: The body of missing NMDC deputy manager M. Prasad, 55, was recovered on Monday by the Sacramento County Sheriff’s department in the US, a week after he had disappeared from the venue of his daughter’s wedding. Prasad had gone missing on February 13, just after his daughter Durga’s marriage at the Grand Island Mansion. His body was found about five miles away.

Prasad’s family said they received a communication from the United States on Tuesday. But the cause of Mr Prasad’s death is still not known. Mr Patibandla Venkateswara Rao, the deceased’s brother-in-law, said they were going to the United States on Tuesday.

Sheriff’s department spokesman Sergeant Tony Turnbull stated in an e-mail that they had suspended the search after three days of Prasad going missing. Mr Turnbull added that an Everbridge call was also sent out regarding Prasad’s missing status twice to residences within a five mile radius around the Grand Island Mansion.

Everbridge is a reverse 911 system, which puts in an electronic call to residences within that area asking for information on a missing person. All information regarding the case was posted on various social media sites too.
