Hyderabad: Producer's son named in theft at film club

A case was registered against unknown persons but investigation revealed Varun's role, police said.

Hyderabad: Tollywood producer C. Kalyan’s son, C. Varun Kumar, was found involved in a theft at the Film Nagar Cultural Club. A case was registered against unknown persons but investigation revealed Varun’s role, police said.

According to police, G. Srinivas from MLA Colony had come to the club on Wednesday for a swim. He kept his mobile phone and wallet in the locker. After the swim, he found his wallet missing. Based on his complaint, Banjara Hills police registered a case and started inquiry.

During investigation, police found that Srinivas’s Axis Bank credit card was used for multiple online transactions and payments.Banjara Hills inspector K. Srinivas said the card was used for making transactions worth about Rs 2.1 lakh in less than 24 hours time. “Based on the card usage at different location, we traced the suspect and identified him as C. Varun Kumar, who is also a member of the FNCC,” the inspector said.
