TN: Burglars drill hole in shop roof, steal Rs 15 crore gold jewels

The CCTV cameras in the shop were found broken.

Tirunelveli: Gold ornaments worth Rs 15 crore were found burgled from a jewellery shop here today, police said.

Burglars had gained entry into the shop at Murugankurichi by drilling a hole on its roof and the incident came to light this morning when the staff reported for duty.

Gold jewelleries of different varieties totally weighing 60 kgs and worth Rs 15 crore were found stolen, police said adding the burglars might have struck late last night.

A construction work was going on in the adjoining the shop. The CCTV cameras in the shop were found broken. However four persons had been recorded by another secret CCTV camera.

A police team had been formed to nab the culprits and further investigation was on.
