Medical student mows down 3-year-old in Meerpet area

Police said that the mishap occurred when K. Tejaswini was hit by a car driven by Osmania medical student Nikhil.

Hyderabad: A three-year-old girl was killed in an accident in Meerpet area on Saturday evening. Police said that the mishap occurred when K. Tejaswini was hit by a car driven by Osmania medical student Nikhil.

Tejaswini, from Bhupesh Gupta Nagar in Meerpet, was playing near a shop close to her house on Saturday evening. The Volkswagen Polo car no TS 03 EE 7007 was coming from Nandanavanam area towards Bairamalguda. When the car reached Bhupesh Gupta Nagar, the driver lost control and hit Tejaswini. “Tejaswini was flung to a distance. Passers-by rushed her to a nearby hospital where doctors declared her brought dead,” said Mr M. Ramakrishna, sub inspector from Meerpet police station.

Nikhil, who was driving the car, fled from the spot, leaving the car behind. A case for causing death due to negligence has been registered.

Tejaswini was the second among three children of her parents. Her father Mr K. Narsinga Rao is a driver. As per the e-challan records, the car is registered in the name of Ms Subhashini Gade and has two challans for Rs 1470, for jumping a signal in February and overspeeding in April.
