Hyderabad: Gang of chain-snatchers, burglars nabbed

Hyderabad: The Cyberabad police nabbed the notorious Jabasaleem gang comprising of five members, including the leader SK Saleem, which was involved in as many as 32 chain-snatching and four house-breaking offences in different parts of Cyberabad, Rachakonda and Hyderabad Police Commissionerates.

Police recovered 800 grams of gold, three bikes, four mobiles and a knife from their possession. The police said that 60 non- bailable warrants were pending against Saleem. The other members of the gang were identified as Syed Nazim Afroz, Mohd Salahuddin Khaleel, Syed Jahangir and Amul Kolekar.

Revealing the criminal past of Saleem, Cyberabad Police Commissioner VC Sajjanar said that Saleem, a resident of Malakpet, was earlier arrested by the Humayun Nagar police in a robbery case. He was involved in 180 snatching cases in the Cyberabad, Rachakonda and Hyderabad Commissionerates and was even detained under the PD Act by the Chikkadpally Police.

Afroz was involved in 15 snatching cases and was arrested by the Santosh Nagar Police in 2015 and was also detained under the PD Act. “They are both close friends and after being released from prison, they hatched a plan to commit chain-snatching and house-break offences in the city. 

Within a short span of eight months, they committed 32 snatchings and four house-break offences. After keeping a surveillance on the old snatching offenders, Shamshabad CCS teams nabbed this gang,” said Mr Sajjanar.Khaleel, Jahangir and Kolekar assisted the duo in the arrests. Based on credible information, the Shamshabad CCS sleuths nabbed them on Monday. They were sent to remand.
