Hyderabad: A video has surfaced of a wild boar straying into a human habitation and entering the HUDA park in Vanasthalipuram. The video shows how cruelly the animal was treated for entering a human habitation.

While the wild animal was inside the park whose gates were closed some locals came to the spot. Before forest officials could arrive they captured the wild boar and tied up its feet.

After tying up the feet of the boar the locals did not leave it alone. They pushed it to the ground, sat on it, clicked photographs and carried it around the park like a trophy, all acts punishable by the law. Hundreds of people gathered at the spot.

The video also shows that a policeman was present at the spot. Not surprisingly, the wild boar died the same day in Hyderabad zoo where it was taken by forest officials who rescued the animal.

However, no case was booked by the Telangana forest department officials against those who ill treated the poor animal. Forest officials said the wild boar died due to internal injuries not caused by the mishandling of people and that the boar was injured before it reached Vanasthalipuram.

Wildlife activist Diya Banerjee who filed a case in Hyderabad HC's against the Telangana government's decision to cull a wild boar said, “It is unfortunate that a wild animal was handled so cruelly. If government has the will, the culprits can be booked under the Wildlife Protection Act and the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act.”
