Chennai: Wife gets husband arrested for raping 12-yr-old daughter
Police sources said that the accused was sexually abusing the girl for the past 6 months after turning up drunk to home.
Chennai: Peeved over her husband’s sexual abuse of their 12-year-old daughter, a woman got her husband arrested in Teynampet on Tuesday.
The accused, Surendar Kumar (44), a native of Bihar was working as a security guard at a private firm in Chennai. He was living with his wife and two children- a son and a daughter near Valluvar Kottam.
Teynampet women police arrested the accused on Tuesday picked up Surendar after the Child line officials informed them of the incident and requested to take action. Police sources said that the accused was sexually abusing the girl for the past 6 months after turning up drunk to home.
Investigations revealed that the girl’s mother reported the incident to Child line authorities after learning of the incident from her son.
“The girl did not tell her mother of the activities of her father due to fear. Recently, she had confided about the sexual abuse with her brother who took up the issue with the mother,” a police officer attached to the Teynampet all women’s police said.
The woman picked up a fight with her husband and informed the child line authorities. When cops descended on their residence on Tuesday, the woman told the police that her husband was sexually abusing her daughter and demanded the police arrest the man. Based on a complaint from the mother, police registered a case and arrested Surendar Kumar. He was produced before the Metropolitan magistrate courts in Saidapet and remanded in judicial custody to Puzhal.
