Key accused in RSS worker C Biju murder held

Five people have been arrested so far in connection with the murder that happened on May 12.

Kannur: One of the key accused in the murder of RSS worker C. Biju was arrested from  Payyannur on Tuesday. C.V. Anoop (Ramanthali Anoop),  CPM local committee member and DYFI block treasurer,  was nabbed from the premises of the KSRTC bus station on Monday night, the  police said.

Five people have been arrested so far in connection with the murder that happened on May 12.

Those already arrested are Rinesh, 28, Naduvile Pura, Kakkampara, Ramanthali, Jyothish, 26, Kunduvalappil, Ramanthali, Sathyan, 33, Panathan Veettil, Kunnaru, Ramanthali, and Jithin, 31, Vadakkumbath, Kakkampara. Another accused  Pratheesh is believed to have fled the country.

Anoop was produced before the Chief Judicial Magistrate court, Kannur, who  remanded him in  14 days’ judicial custody.  The BJP has demanded a probe into the conspiracy behind the murder as all the accused belong to the CPM.

The murder that was committed after the high-level peace talks initiated by the chief minister came  as a blow to the party which disowned the accused.

They reportedly had close relationship with slain CPM worker C.V. Dhanaraj  who was killed in July last year.   Biju was the 12th accused in the case. The police had seized the car used by the killers of Biju  on the day of attack.
