Six killed, 12 injured as jeep falls in to gorge in Madhya Pradesh
As per preliminary probe, the steering of the jeep got locked, due to which the vehicle failed to negotiate a turn and fell into the gorge.
Mandla: Six persons, including two women, were on Friday killed and 12 others injured, when the jeep they were travelling in fell in to a gorge near Nevsa village, around 60 km from here, police said.
"The victims, hailing from Mahod village, were coming to Bichhia market when the mishap occurred, in which the driver also died on the spot," Additional Superintendent of Police O S Kalesh said.
As per the preliminary probe, the steering of the jeep got locked, due to which the vehicle failed to negotiate a turn and fell straight into the gorge. Three persons died on the spot while as many succumbed to their injuries in a hospital, he said.
The deceased were identified as Ram Pyari (30), Samaro Bai (42), Mukesh (14), driver of the jeep Santosh (28), Ratan Singh (35) and Darbari (21), Kalesh said. He said three of the 12 wounded have sustained serious injuries in the incident and are being brought to the district hospital. Remaining injured is being treated in another hospital at Bichhia tehsil, he added. Further investigation is on.
