Hyderabad: A 23-year-old farmer was brutally murdered by the family of a girl he was in love with for more than 10 years. The victim was identified as Bestha Yadappa alias Yadaiah.

The girl’s father, Mestri Ramulu, did not want her to marry Yadappa because he was less educated and not financially well off.  Yadappa’s decomposed body was recovered on Sunday. Yadappa had dropped out of school in Tandur and was working as a farmer. The girl used to be his classmate and they were also neighbours and belonged to the same caste. The girl continued her studies and is to graduate now. Her family is financially stable and her father Ramulu was against the relationship.

On Thursday, Yadappa was called out of his home by, as yet, unidentified persons. He never returned. A missing case was registered on Friday. His family suspected the role of the girl’s father. “We suspected that he kidnapped Yadappa to threaten him to stay away from the girl, but then he brutally killed him. Had the police acted swiftly, he could have survived,” a relative alleged.

Body dumped in stone quarry
Police apprehended the girl’s father Mestri Ramulu and he confessed that he and four others killed Yadappa.

“They throttled him and dumped his body in the stone quarry in Korivichedu village in Basheerabad mandal,” said Tandur Town inspector M. Venkataramaiah.

Police recovered the decomposed body after being provided clues by the murderers. A case of murder and kidnap has been registered. Police are verifying if more persons were involved in the killing.

In a similar incident in Yadadri district two months ago, one Naresh was murdered by the father of Swathi whom he had married. His body was burnt and disposed of in a field.
