ANANTAPUR: The Anantapur Fourth Town police arrested a BSF jawan, C. Nagaraju, for threatening two persons with a pistol in connection with a land dispute here on Monday. Police also seized the licensed weapon along with 50 rounds from Nagaraju. DSP J. Venkat Rao said Nagaraju, a native of Palli in Tanakal mandal in the district, belonged to the 139th Batallion of the BSF that is posted in Bihar.

He had purchased two and a half cents of land in Kakkalapalli panchayat on the outskirts of Anantapur from one C. Anjaneyulu two years ago.  Mr Anjaneyulu had a dispute over the land with his cousin Sanjanna. Following this, Nagaraju and Mr Sanjanna approached the court. Nagaraju recently arrived on leave and began construction a house on the disputed site on Monday.

Sanjanna’s sons resisted Nagaraju who threatened them with his licenced pistol and abused them. The episode was videographed on a cellphone and made its way to social media where it went viral. The Fourth Town police registered case against Nagaraju and arrested him based on a complaint.
