Tamil Nadu: Students thrash principal for sexually harassing girls

Police said Kumar Charlie Paul, principal of SSM Engineering College in Kumarapalayam had misbehaved with girl students.

Salem: Students of a private engineering college in Namakkal on Wednesday ransacked class rooms and thrashed the principal over allegations that he sexually harassed girl students. 

Police said Kumar Charlie Paul, principal of SSM Engineering College in Kumarapalayam had misbehaved with girl students, particularly those, who were staying in the hostel. 

On Wednesday, the students turned furious and thrashed the principal. They also ransacked class rooms by smashing the glass windows. When the students attempted to resort to a road roko, the Kumarapalayam police Inspector Veludevan and other cops rushed to the spot and held talks with them. 

Meanwhile, the college management issued an order dismissing the principal from service. Police said Kumar Charlie Paul fled from the spot in a car and a search is on to nab him. The college has declared five days holidays following tension in campus.
