Khammam: The police achieved a breakthrough in the case of suspicious deaths of three persons in Chandruthanda in Thirumalayapalem mandal on August 14. Three persons – Boda Haridas, Boda Malsoor and Boda Bhadru - were found dead after consuming liquor at a ritual and it was suspected that their rivals mixed cyanide in the liquor following some family disputes.

The police on Monday took four persons to custody and are searching for a fifth person involved in the crime.

According to the commissioner of police Vishnu Warrior, the families of Boda Chinna and Boda Haridas had a dispute over a land issue in Chandruthanda. Chinna, a registered medical practitioner, had a grudge against Haridas’s family. Chinna hatched a plan to eliminate Haridas and others and invited them to Dasadina Karma (tenth day programme after the demise) of his brother. Haridas, Malsoor and Bhadru attended the ceremony and consumed liquor offered by the Chinna.

The trio, who consumed the spiked liquor, died soon after. Relatives of Haridas suspected the role of Chinna and lodged a complaint against him. They also tried to attack the families of Chinna and others. The police filed an FIR and investigated the case. The post-mortem report revealed that the trio died of cyanide consumption. The police took Chinna, Daravat, Nandanuri Sudarshan, all residents of Chandruthanda and Shaik Salim, resident of Kothagudem into custody and interrogated them. They confessed that they had tried to settle scores with Haridas’ family and mixed cyanide with liquor consumed by the three victims.

Another culprit in the case Boda Bicha is on the run and the police are trying to nab him.
