Bus knocks down pedestrian in Bengaluru
Police said the accident took place around 8.40 pm on Thursday when Viveknath was crossing the road at Eijipura Signal.
BENGALURU: Three people were killed in separate road accidents in the city in Jalahalli, Adugodi, and HSR Layout traffic police station limits since Thursday night.
In the first incident, a 27-year-old pedestrian was knocked down by a private bus near Ejipura Signal 100 feet Road in Adugodi traffic police station limits. The deceased has been identified as Viveknatha, a resident of Eijipura, and currently unemployed.
Police said the accident took place around 8.40 pm on Thursday when Viveknath was crossing the road at Eijipura Signal. A speeding private bus allegedly knocked him down and the driver fled after abandoning the vehicle.
Passersby rushed to his rescue and shifted him to a nearby hospital, where he was declared dead on arrival. The police reached the spot and seized the bus and efforts are on to nab the driver. Adugodi traffic police have registered a case.
Biker dead
In another incident, a 20-year-old rider was fatally knocked down after it was rear ended by a tractor on Thursday evening in Jalahalli traffic police station limits. The deceased has been identified as, Sandeeep R, a resident of Jalahalli and a labourer. Police said the accident took place around 7.45 pm near Kereguddadahalli pipeline, while Sandeep was going home. After the tractor hit his bike, Sandeep got tossed up in air and sustained grievous head injuries. He was rushed to a hospital, but was declared dead on arrival.
A 33-year-old accountant died after he lost control over his bike and hit a lamp post near Subramanya Garden, Belegera off HSR Layout on Thursday night. According to the police, the deceased, Satish, was working in a private company and the accident took place at around 11 pm, while he was returning home from St John’s hospital, where his mother-in-law was admitted. Passersby rushed him to a hospital but he was declared brought dead. HSR Layout traffic police have registered a case in this connection.
