Hyderabad: An alcoholic husband killed his wife over a petty issue in Cherukupally colony on Thursday. After an argument between the two, Padmarao smashed his wife’s on the floor and then fled the scene.
She died on the spot. According to police, P. Susheela and P. Padmarao, both farmers from Medak, were married for 22 years. Due to crop loss, the couple along with their 20-year-old daughter and 16-year-old son had moved to the city.
Soon after, Padmarao started drinking and stopped working, while Susheela started working for a private company. Often, he came home drunk and beat his wife. On Thursday, Padmarao came home drunk and picked up an argument with her. “He caught her by the head and hit it on the floor, leaving her in a pool of blood,” Jeedimetla inspector C. Shankar Reddy said.
