Kakinada: Tragedy struck near Kakinada on Saturday evening as a fish-laden lorry overturned into a canal, claiming the lives of two men.

Lachireddy Rambabu, 51, the lorry driver, and Repalle Gangadhara Rao, 37, the cleaner, both from West Godavari district, died on the spot when the vehicle lost control and crashed near Z.Ragampeta village.

According to Gandepalli police, the accident occurred on the National Highway within the Gandepalli mandal. As the lorry overturned, the fish crates tumbled onto the cabin, trapping the driver and cleaner.

Authorities confirmed the fatalities and registered a case under the supervision of sub-inspector Y. Ganesh Kumar. The cause of the accident is currently under investigation.
