Accused in GHMC motor vehicle scam held by CCS

The CCS police had arrested four GHMC officials for siphoning off government funds in the motor transport wing in betw-een 2007 and 2009.

The GHMC says the area is being maintained as a garbage transfer station. Harichandana Dasari, GHMC west zone commissioner, said, We have started rectifying the problems residents are facing after it came to our notice.

Hyderabad: The Central Crime Station (CCS) has arrested a trading company owner Sri Praveen in connection with GHMC motor vehicle scam, DCP Avinash Mohanty said.

Earlier this month, the CCS police had arrested four GHMC officials for siphoning off government funds in the motor transport wing in between 2007 and 2009.  A report of the Vigilance and Enforcement department found large-scale irregularities in purch-ase of spare parts and repairs and a case was registered in 2016. The GHMC wrote to the CCS in March 2016 asking that cases be booked against more than 20 firms found to be involved the scam, Mr Mohanty said.
