Kasaragod: Rigorous imprisonment for men who attacked journalist

Kasaragod: Two men have been given 22 years rigorous imprisonment for a murder attempt on a journalist and his son in Kanjangad, Kasargod. They also have to pay a fine of Rs 55, 00 each, as per the verdict by Kasargod district sessions judge T.S.P. Moosad on Wednesday.

A H Hashim (35), Kuniya Kaliyadukkam, Cherumba, and K. Sibi (35), Vayakkara Njarambil, Padichal, Kannur, were sentenced for attempting to murder Aravind Manikoth and his son Biji, by pouring acid on them.

Another accused Rasaq, Kammadam, Neeleshwaram, was set free in the case. The incident took place on March 26, 2006. The accused, who came on a bike, attacked the father and son near a salon in Kottachery. The prosecution argued that the victims were attacked over a report published in their eveninger.
