Bengaluru: Prof Ramalingappa T., an Associate Professor at Maharani Women's College, who was suspended last week for allegedly sexual harassing a girl student, has denied all the allegations.

In his letter to the Commissioner, Department of Collegiate Education (DCE), he has stated that some vested interests in the college are behind the episode and are trying to tarnish his image.

He has stated, “On January 23, between 8 am and 8.30 am, I was carrying 20 books in a bag to distribute among meritorious students as part of an event. The girl student, who has lodged the complaint against me, helped me carry one of the bags. Inside the classroom, after keeping the bags, I gave her a chalk and duster to write the programme details on the blackboard. At that time I might have touched her hands by mistake.”

He said, “But this issue has now been blown out of proportion. A few colleagues from other departments are spreading the rumour and tarnishing my image. Even at the time of inquiry, I was not given an opportunity to present my version of the story.”He has also stated that he is ready to face any inquiry by any organisation.
