11-member ganja gang busted
ANANTAPUR: Kadapa police busted an 11-member gang of inter-district ganja smugglers operating in Pulivendula and Atlur areas during raids on Friday. Police have seized 23.95 kg of contraband and two motorcycles from the gang.
SP K.K.N. Anburajan said police teams raided different places across YSR district as part of their ongoing action against the narcotic in the district. Those arrested include inter-district and local peddlers.
Four peddlers had been taken into custody from within Mydukur Urban limits. They have been identified as Koriyam Srinivasulu, Syed Moulali, Shaik Hasan of Mydukur, while Dugganapalli Babji is from Pulivendula town. Another four persons – H. Venkata Siva Suresh, D. Durga Sai, S. Srinivasulu and Pavan are from Proddatur town.
The remaining three, including a woman, have been taken into custody from within Atlur and Pulivendula Urban police station limits.
The SP warned that offenders repeating their crime will be booked under the Preventive Detention Act and jailed.
