ORR Mercedes mishap: 2 cars, same registration numbers
According to the owners, the vehicle's registration number was TS 07EX 8055.
Hyderabad: Surprisingly, there’s another vehicle with the same registration number as that of the Mercedes that had caught fire on Saturday at the Outer Ring Road in Rajendranagar following an accident.
According to the owners, the vehicle’s registration number was TS 07EX 8055. But Cyberabad traffic police e-challan database showed another vehicle, a Mahindra Xylo, with the same registration number.
Mr Jagadeep Gokul, a DC reader who sent us the photographs of the Mahindra Xylo and challan record, asked: “Do we have two vehicles with the same registration number or was it just a human error?”Rajendranagar police, which is investigating the case, remained tight lipped about the issue despite repeated queries. The investigation officer said that they were yet to verify the documents of the Mercedes.
“Though we have issued an FIR, we have not taken down the registration number of the vehicle so far. We will do it on Monday,” said investigation officer sub inspector Ramachandraiah.
As per the rule, the FIR should contain the vehicle registration number.
The police’s inaction in verifying the documents of the vehicle till now raises more doubts about the issue. Higher officials of Cyberabad said they were looking into the matter. The Mercedes SUV, which was being driven by Ms R. Udaya, was registered in the name of Raudra Edu Services owned by her husband, businessman Mr Ravindra Babu.
