Banner row: 7 held for murder

Sharief later narrated the incident to his friends, the other accused in the case.

Bengaluru: Seven people have been arrested in connection with the murder of a 38-year-old man over removing of a banner belonging to an organisation in Bellelli in Yelahanka hobli on May 20. The accused have been identified as Syed Sharief (33), a resident of Yelahanka, Syed Mehboob Pasha (29), Shahrukh Khan (24), Syed Mansoor Ali (30) and Waqar Ahmed (35), residents of Bellelli, Mohammed Jaffer Hussain (34) of Ganganagar Extension and Nawaz Sharief (19) of D.J. Halli. They allegedly murdered Ayub Khan, a resident of Govindpur, on May 20 following a fight over removing a banner belonging to an organisation. Syed Sharief had put up the banner near the Bellelli bus stand, but Ayub had threatened and removed it. A furious Sharief had picked up a fight with Ayub, the police said. Sharief later narrated the incident to his friends, the other accused in the case.
