Hyderabad: 3 arrested for beating up man
The people, scared by fake social media forwards of thieves, beat him up after he did not give them satisfactory replies.
Hyderabad: Pahadishareef police arrested three persons including a counsellor on Thursday for assaulting a man with sticks in Mamidipalli. On Wednesday, the victim who was wandering near the Pahadishareef police station was cornered by the locals on the suspicion of being a thief. The people, scared by fake social media forwards of thieves, beat him up after he did not give them satisfactory replies.
A video surfaced on Wednesday in which a man was seen beating Jannathul Nayeem Riyazul, 27, with a stick, while others thrashed him on suspicion of him being a thief.
Ernaki Venu Goud, 30, a counsellor of Badangpet, Md Shareef Qureshi, 38 and Ayub Khan, 33 were arrested by the police, Pahadishareef inspector Lakshmikanth Reddy said. “We have identified three other accused, including a woman but they are not available in the village. We will arrest them soon,” he said. It emerged that the victim was mentally ill and the police shifted him to a safe place where he can be cared for.
