Three more CPM workers held in Shamej murder

The murder of Shamej was in retaliation for the killing of Kannipoyil Babu, 45, CPM leader of Palloor near Mahe.

KANNUR: Three more CPM workers were arrested in connection with the murder of RSS worker U.C. Shamej, 42, at New Mahe near here. The accused Muhammed Faisal, P. Sajeesh  and K.K. Rehin  were produced in the  court which remanded them in judicial custody on Thursday.   The murder of Shamej was in retaliation for the killing of Kannipoyil Babu, 45, CPM leader of Palloor near Mahe. 

The three were directly involved in the murder of Shamej, police said.   An eight-member gang had pulled out Shamej from his  autorickshaw and hacked him,  according to police. The police had earlier arrested three other CPM workers in connection with the incident. Shamej was killed under New Mahe police station limit in the state while Kannipoyil Babu was killed under Mahe police station limits under Puduchery.
