Hospital chairman held for cheating employees

The accused doctor was also arrested by Rachakonda police for allegedly cheating over 100 employees by not paying salaries and fled from the city.

Hyderabad: Braunwald Hospitals chairman Dr Narendra Vikramaditya Yadav, was arrested by Cyberabad police on Friday in a case of illegal confinement. The accused doctor was also arrested by Rachakonda police for allegedly cheating over 100 employees by not paying salaries and fleeing from the city.

According to the police, Dr Narendra Vikramaditya Yadav, who owns Braunwald Hospitals had acquired Poulomi Hospital located at Kushaiguda in January this year and issued fresh appointment orders to over 100 employees working in different wings.

From February, he failed to pay his employees. When they asked him, he told them to resign. Some employees got their salary but with irregular deductions. When they approached him during the third week of April, Dr Yadav and his wife Divya Rawat, vice-chairman of the hospital, promised to clear the dues. On April 28, they went absconding, said the police.

Dr Yadav left to Chennai while Ms Rawat fled to the UK, said the police.A case was registered against the couple at Kushaiguda following a complaint from the employees. Dr Yadav was arrested in Chennai on May 17. During the custody, he confessed of cheating employees at Himabindu Hospital at LB Nagar.

A case was also registered against him and his wife at Pet Basheerabad for illegal confinement of a doctor, Dr Kenneth Townend, who was invited by Dr Rawat to extend his medical services at their hospitals, in a room for three days.

On Friday, the Pet Basheerabad police arrested him on a transit warrant and produced before a court, said the police, adding that Ms Rawat and others who were involved in the offence are still at large and efforts are underway to nab them.
