HYDERABAD: The Jubilee Hills police investigating the case against actress Dimple Hayati and her friend David have named DCP Traffic-I Rahul Hegde, his gunman and the apartment watchman as witnesses and recorded their statements. Police also recorded the statement of Hegde’s driver M. Chetan Kumar, who is the complainant in this case.

Hayathi’s counsel Paul Satyanadhan David said they would fight the case legally. He claimed that the officer nursed a grudge on the actress after she had a face-off over the parking issue and with an aim to damage her reputation and put her behind bars.

“This is nothing but highhandedness of the police. If nobody questions their atrocities, there will be no end. Since my client has questioned, she is facing all these issues,” counsel David added.

Investigators said that they issued an FIR only after collecting adequate evidence. “We will soon complete the investigation and file a chargesheet,” they said.

The issue came to light after Jubilee Hills police registered a case against Hayathi and David of intentionally hitting the official vehicle of Hegde with her car and kicking the traffic cones placed in the parking lot of the apartment where the officer and the actress stay.
