Bengaluru: Chided by woman, flower vendor kills her son

Bengaluru: Angered after a woman chided him for knocking the door hard, a flower vendor allegedly murdered her six-year-old son by throwing him into a sump at an under construction site.

The deceased has been identified as Manoj, son of James and Anita. The family lived in Mariyannanapalya near Hebbal. He was a first standard student at a school near his house. The accused is identified as Mahesh, 21, a resident of Bilekahalli.
Police said that Manoj had come to his grandparents’ house in Bilekahalli with his mother on Friday evening. The accused Mahesh delivered flowers every morning to the grandparents’ house.
On Saturday morning around 5 am, Mahesh went to sell flowers and allegedly knocked the door hard.
Anita, who woke up, reportedly scolded him for knocking the door so hard. He had allegedly left after an argument with her.
“Later Manoj had gone out to play and around 9 am, Anita went to call him for breakfast. But he was not found and Anita searched for him in the vicinity. As he was not found till noon, she filed a complaint with the police. She also informed the police about argument with Mahesh. The police picked up Mahesh and during interrogation he confessed to the murder. He revealed that he returned near Anita’s house around 8.30 am and found her Manoj playing. To teach her a lesson, he took the boy to an under construction site and threw him into a sump,” the police said.
Later, the police took the accused to the spot, recovered the body and sent it for post-mortem. The Mico Layout police are investigating further.
