No abetment charges in Krishnaunni's death
An online campaign is also on to seek justice for the teenager.
Thiruvananthapuram: Around four months after Krishnanunnis L Pratap, 19, was found dead on the railway tracks, no one has been booked in connection with his death. An action council that was formed seeking justice for him has decided to intensify its stir. The teenager was found dead on the railway tracks near Veli on March 31. Hours earlier, he was allegedly beaten up by his girlfriend’s parents in broad daylight at Vazhayila. Police took statements from people including a workshop owner. However, they were yet to book anyone for abetment of suicide or murder. Senior police officials attached to Pettah station said that there was no evidence to accuse anyone in his death.
“The autopsy report points to a lethal injury on the right side of his head. His body and shirt had dirt from the train which is usually transferred on impact,” an official said. Meanwhile, action council members said, “An evening protest meeting will be held at Vattiyoorkavu on August 1 with MLA K. Muraleedharan, BJP spokesperson V.V. Rajesh and CPM Palayam area committee members participating in it.”
“We have got no justice from the police in the case. The family of the girl is influential. We demand an inquiry from an agency other than the local police. If these protests do not work, a section of corporation councillors will fast and protest in the council,” said Thittamangalam Hari, action council member and uncle of the deceased. Krishnanunni L Pratap, a first year B.Com student had lost his father at the age of two. He is survived by his mother Letha and an elder brother. An online campaign is also on to seek justice for the teenager.
