Hyderabad: Cops arrest gang which stole vehicle with Rs 3.6 crore cash

Hyderabad: Cyberabad police on Wednesday arrested a gang of seven members who intercepted a car, which was on way to Kerala on National Highway 44, and robbed it by threatening the transporters with a cigarette lighter which resembled a pistol has been arrested. They had snatched the four-wheeler along with around Rs 3.6 crore cash in it.
According to the Cyberabad police the seven gang members, who included two women, were from Maharashtra. One of the accused Mayuresh Manohar Pisalis used to work for a gold trader, Raju Nangre, who made the complaint. Pisalis told his friend, Vishwajeet, whom police consider as the main culprit, about the transporting process and convinced Pisalis to rob the cash by intercepting it when it was being transported.
The two worked out the details of the robbery. Pisalis informed his accomplices about the location of the car.
The gang members reached Shadnagar and put up in a lodge near the Raikal toll plaza on NH44 two days prior to the robbery. The plan was to intercept the car at Dashmesh Dhaba near the toll plaza when the driver stopped to have dinner at the dhaba.
Cyberabad police commissioner V.C. Sajjanar said, “On June 28, the accused intercepted the four-wheeler of Raj Nangre as it was on the way to Kerala with net cash of Rs 3.6 crore with which to buy gold. The accused forcibly sat in it after threatening the car driver with a cigarette lighter resembling a pistol and took the car towards Balanagar. They then left them at Bhoorgula crossroads and fled with the vehicle along with the Rs 3.6 crore cash.”
He added that after committing the offence, the gang went to the house of the prime accused Vishwajith in Karad town in Maharashtra and shared the stolen cash, which was kept in secret lockers in cavities fixed under the front seats.
During the course of the investigation, the special operation team (SOT), Cyberabad, along with Shadnagar division police used technical expertise to zero in on the location of the accused at Kohir cross roads in Zaheerabad town in Telangana as they were planning to commit another offence. The police managed to recover Rs 2.89 crore, gold ornaments weighing about 350 grams and one car from the accused.
